About Microsoft Forms
Microsoft Forms exists to be the form your organisation already owns, rather than the best form builder you could choose.
The ease of building is high for the same reason as its sibling products: a short list of question types, branching on an answer, and nothing to configure before sharing. Its real mechanism is the account. Sign-in is with work, school or personal Microsoft credentials, governance follows the rest of the tenancy, and responses sync into Excel where the reporting already lives. Customisation is equally shallow, running to themes and no further, which means the form announces which suite produced it.
The cost is what happens after submit, once you leave that boundary. There is no payment collection and no calculation across answers, some capabilities need a work or school account rather than a personal one, and appearance is limited to themes. Outside a Microsoft 365 organisation there is very little reason to pick it.
